Counseling

Swelling and redness should start to improve within a day or two of starting antibiotics. Recommended supportive care with tylenol or motrin as needed for pain, with an emphasis on warm compresses. Go to the emergency department right away for pain with eye movement, trouble moving the eye, a bulging eye, vision changes, severe headache, vomiting, or swelling that keeps spreading. Return precautions given including fever, swelling that is not improving, new symptoms, prolonged symptoms, worsening symptoms, and other concerns.
