Counseling

Redness may spread a little in the first day before antibiotics start working, then should steadily improve over the next couple of days. Recommended supportive care with tylenol or motrin as needed for pain, with an emphasis on keeping the area clean and covered and raising it when possible. Wash hands often and do not share towels. Return precautions given including redness spreading beyond its current edges after the first day, red streaks, fever, increasing pain or swelling, new symptoms, prolonged symptoms, worsening symptoms, and other concerns. Caregiver expressed understanding and agreement with plan. Answered all questions.
